Last Wednesday these 5 girls gave a presentation to the 5th through 8th grade classes on the effects of vaping. They were awarded a mini grant from the No Limits Nebraska which is part of the Nebraska Youth Tobacco Prevention Group. With some of their grant money they purchased posters to place around the school. We are thankful for their time and effort they did to prepare for this.

Gibbon Great students got a gardening lesson from the garden expert, Mrs. Escritt.

Follow our FFA chapter on Facebook and Instagram for more information @gibbonffa. Our chapter had a great first state FFA convention! Here is a little bit of what our members did this week!
Wednesday: competed on an East campus scavenger hunt (one of our teams finished 2nd), Carlee Mashek competed in extemporaneous prelims (she earned a bronze medal), Farm business management team competed (placed 81st out of 100), had a chapter dinner, attend our first state FFA session, and during the session Meagan and Cove got to go on stage to be recognized as a new chapter!
Thursday: Attended a workshop with Natalie Kovarik and Tara Vander Dussen, attended session 3 where Meagan got to accept our chapter award for being a connecting chapter, meet industry leaders and college recruiters at the career fair, attended leadership workshops (Meagan and Cove got invited to attend a tagged to teach ag workshop), the agriscience team competed (they received 74th out of 150), and we attended another session where we listened to a great keynote speaker.
Friday: Carlee attended the State qualifier LDE breakfast (where she got recognized and awarded for competing), attended another session where we listened to coach John Cook speak about his coaching methods for UNL volleyball and how he has taken on a new hobby of rodeo, we then had a chapter bonding activity and networking event with the Axtell FFA chapter where we went axe throwing, we then went on an industry tour of Sandhills global publishing, and finished off our week by attending the final session where they announced all of the state winners and the new FFA state officers!
We are so incredibly proud of our members! Way to make history as the first FFA members of the re-established Gibbon FFA to attend state convention!
