Gibbon FBLA held its annual Go Green Week September 8–11, 2026, celebrating environmental awareness and encouraging students to make positive choices to help care for our environment. Throughout the week, FBLA members organized a variety of activities, dress-up days, posters, announcements, and learning opportunities for students throughout the school.

The chapter’s News Reporter and Technology Officer created special buttons for the FBLA officer team to wear throughout the week. Students were also encouraged to participate in themed dress-up days. On Tuesday, students were invited to wear brown, Wednesday was green, and Thursday was FBLA T-shirt Day.

On Friday, students had the opportunity to submit an Environmental Promise—a personal commitment they wanted to make to take better care of our environment. Throughout the week, FBLA members also created and shared environmental awareness announcements with the high school.

A special thank-you goes to Haidyn McKinley, Korbyn Smallcomb, Abbie Miller, and Ivy Noller for their participation in announcing Go Green facts during the week.

FBLA also sponsored an elementary coloring contest for students in grades 1–3. Students were challenged to “Draw a Tree in a Sunny Environment” and use their creativity to highlight the importance of a healthy environment. The winners were Stori Lester from Mrs. Weismann’s class, Emma Diaz from Mrs. Hoffmeister’s class, and Bailey Avina from Mrs. Montanez’s class. The winners were announced to the elementary school on Friday, October 2.

A special thank-you goes to our Go Green Week Chairpersons, Caden Jones and Haidyn McKinley, for their leadership in planning, organizing, and implementing the activities throughout the week.

We would also like to thank our elementary teachers for supporting the coloring contest and encouraging their students to participate: Mrs. Gartner, Mrs. Montanez, Mrs. Weismann, Mrs. Tolles, Mrs. Clark, and Mrs. Hoffmeister.

Gibbon FBLA is proud to provide opportunities that encourage students to become informed, responsible leaders while making a positive impact in our school and community. #gibbonfbla #NebraskaFBLA #gpsbuffs #gibbonpride #gogreen
