Supts on, Dr. Fisher

A team representing teachers, administrators, secretaries, support staff and our school nurse have worked over the course of this summer to create a Return to School Protocols Plan in response to COVID-19 and the challenge of starting a new school year. The plan has been reviewed by parents, students, and staff of Gibbon Public Schools for the purpose of collecting feedback, clarifying information, and gathering suggestions focused on improving the final product.

The purpose of the Return to School Protocols is to outline the strategies Gibbon Public Schools will deploy in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the educational program during the 2020-21 school year. The Return to School Protocols was created for use by teachers, students, parents, businesses, and the community of Gibbon.

The intent of the Return to School Protocols is to bring a predictable, consistent, and transparent response to a global pandemic. However, the district understands that COVID-19 is constantly evolving, and circumstances associated with its impact are ultimately unpredictable. Due to the evolving nature of COVID-19, the school district will consistently evaluate protocols and will modify practices as needed for the safety of all staff, students, and patrons.

We have sent a draft of the Return to School Protocols to the Two Rivers Health Department for their review and possibly receive recommendations that make the plan stronger. The goal is to have the plan the Return to School Protocol on our website by Monday, August 3rd. On August 13th, the district will host BUFFALO STAMPEDE and offer two time slots where parents can learn more about the Return to School Protocols. Information about BUFFALO STAMPEDE will be sent via mail and will be posted on our website very soon. BUFFALO STAMPEDE is an event reserved for the parents of students who attend Gibbon Public Schools.
