The Dilly Dally

Synopsis:

Welcome aboard. The Masthead sets the stage outlining the relaxed nature of our crew- they really are “pirates who don't do anything”. They pass their time playing board games, singing songs, and every once in a while- acting out dramatic scenes. When a bottle is pulled out of the sea, the nagging pirate, Baldbeard, informs the crew that the Infamous Captain Blindbeard has gone missing from his ship. Captain Brownbeard enters and demands the pirates cure his boredom by holding a mock trial. Names are pulled randomly for all of the courtroom roles- lawyers and such.  To everyone’s dismay- Smee is chosen for the coveted role of “the accused”. To “spice things up”, the pirates decide to try Smee for the crimes on Blindbeard’s wanted poster (as if the pathetic scallywag could have ever done these things).  As Smee reveals more and more intimate details about the crimes, Baldbeard becomes suspicious of Smee's true identity. Just as the verdict is about to be reached, Redbeard, the 1st mate of Blindbeard’s ship, boards looking for his captain. This comedy pokes fun at all the typical pirate jokes as well as the ever-entertaining mistaken identity tropes.
